Date: April 17, 2024
Program: Pre-School Story Time
Theme: Spring Time and Growing Things

Activities:
Springtime! Everybody loves it. We recited a poem about it, and talked about its warmth, flowers and trees blooming. Gardening time. More daylight hours to play outside. They learned that growing plants was something even a child could do.

What does it take to grow a plant? Sun, soil, and rain. The children taped vegetables and fruits to growing location – underground, above ground, and on a tree. Pollination was their new word to learn. Three girls were flowers, and a boy the bee. Bee moved pollen from flower to flower.

We watched a time lapse on YouTube of seeds growing. The children put gravel, potting soil, and compost in a large plastic cup and planted zinnia seeds. A laminated ruler in the cup will help them watch the zinnia’s growth. The children then had snacks and played so happily together.
